Long Live The Federation!

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you hadn't heard, this past Friday marked the final show of downtown New Orleans beloved Morning 40 Federation. They were our friends. They were our family. AND THEY ALWAYS WILL BE!!! Ten long years of debauched entertainment later, they're going on indefinite hiatus. Have we seen the last of The Bywater's Best? Unlikely. But until we meet again...

Meanwhile, an obituary for the Forties by Federation Frontman, Josh Cohen (aka Roger Cormerant):

OBITU
ARY
Scull
y once described a sick old dog you love very much, who is in rough shape, wheezing and mangy, limping around the house. Sometimes the right thing to do is 'put er down', as much as it may hurt.

As I refle
ct back on the ten odd years we have performed as the Morning 40 Federation we have gone through our ups and downs. It's been a long stretch and I've had some of my greatest experiences zoning out to our band on stage. My
ranting and saxophone playing was entirely fueled by the furious and explosive music of the talented and origional musicians who I will always consider family. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we appreciate all the friendships that have been born as a result of us going on tour, but especially our local New Orleans fans who have become such an inspiration to us.

All good thing
s must come to an end. The archive of songs we created seemed to come about naturally, and we learned a lot about music in the process.

It is becau
se we have high standards for this band that we dont want to settle for less than what we are capable of. No one is to blame, it's not about that. It's about putting an old dog to sleep.

I want to perso
nally thank all of our fans and friends, club owners, our label, and musicans who have helped us, played with and partied with us over the years. Too many names to menton.

See you at The Beaux
Rivage Casino in 10 years!

With Drunk
en Love,

Muses Parade Teaser! Happy Carnival Time!

Hey Folks! Check out this fine piece of footwear that'll be tossed from a float during Muses! Photographer/shoe creator Erika Goldring says:

"Do I have to explain to anyone on this list that a shoe to a Muse is what a coconut is to a Zulu? I still get puzzled looks from people when I tell them I’m frantically working on my shoes. It’s Carnival Time! Musicians rolling down the Avenue with me in 2009 include: Robert Plant, Jakob Dylan, Solomon Burke, Anders Osborne, Lil Wayne and a whole lot of Indians!

MUSES ROLLS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19"

Erika will be on FLOAT #5 – exact spot TBA. Let her know ya want it!

AND THE WINNER IS...

NOT your friendly neighborhood Bingo! Show...

But many thanks to Natasha Fiore, Madame Mystere, and Trixie Minx of Fleur De Tease for maintaining a Confederate Bingo! Show presence for us... just in case. Thanks also to the girls for awarding us their own set of prizes! (And just to digress for a moment... Would you look at these girls??? Can you even deal with this? You're developing a clown fetish right now, aren't you? Boy, if that set of faces doesn't make you feel like a winnah, Jack, you dead!)

In the category of Best Rock Band or Performer:

The New Orleans Bingo! Show was presented (by Fleur de Tease) with a bag of socks. (On account of how we rock their socks off.) [Congratulations to Theresa Anderson for winning the "REAL" award.]

In the category of Best Rock Album:
The New Orleans Bingo! Show was presented (by Fleur de Tease) with an attractive squeaky toy. [Congratulations to Theresa Anderson once again... Hardworkin' lady!]

In the category of Best Male Vocalist:

Clint Maedgen was presented (by Fleur de Tease) with a handy pick-up line generator and vocalizer. (Baby, are your feet tired? Cuz you been running through my mind ALL night...) [Congratulations to John Boutte for going home with the little glass pyramid.]

So. Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted for us. Many heartfelt thanks to the luscious ladies of Fleur de Tease. Let's do it again next year!
